Set up with the wizard
Right after you activate, Structura opens a full-screen Setup wizard that walks you through everything it needs to start writing — in about five minutes. You can complete it now, skip it and come back later, or re-run it any time. Nothing is final until you click Finish setup.
When it opens
The wizard opens automatically the first time you land in Structura on a fresh install, on every plan. If you haven’t connected your account yet, its first screen asks for your license key (from your purchase or sign-up email) — paste it, click Connect, and setup continues from there. You can leave at any point with the Exit link in the top-right — your dashboard then shows a tile to pick the setup back up where you left off.
In the customer portal, the same wizard sets up any site, WordPress included: Connect a site opens it at an extra first step, Address, and it ends with Connect. A WordPress site you set up there carries on in the portal once the plugin connects, and the plugin skips its own wizard.
To start it again from scratch later, go to Site → Settings and click Restart setup wizard. Restarting keeps everything you’ve already saved; it just steps you through the choices again.
The steps
The wizard moves through these steps. You can’t move on until the current step is complete, and the step bar across the top shows where you are.
-
Address — Customer portal only. Connect a site opens the wizard here and asks Where is your site? Enter your Public website URL and select Continue; Structura reads the site to fill in the rest. A platform Structura can’t publish to yet (Webflow, Shopify, Wix, Squarespace or Framer) stops here with Notify me, and nothing is created. A WordPress site that already runs the Structura plugin shows This site already runs Structura. and your license key: paste the key in wp-admin under Structura → Account & License, and once the plugin connects, the wizard opens on that site at the first step that still needs you. Any other address creates the site and opens Site info.
-
Site info — Confirm the name, tagline, language, and public URL Structura pulled from WordPress. On a site that already runs the plugin, the name and URL are read-only here: the plugin keeps them in sync, so change them in wp-admin. On paid plans the one-line description of what your site does is drafted for you from your homepage (edit anything that isn’t right), and you can also set a logo here — it’s prefilled from your WordPress logo when you have one, and you can upload one (handy for headless sites where WordPress has no logo). In the customer portal, a logo you upload here is used instead of your WordPress logo until you change the logo in WordPress. Structura uses it on the Visuals step to match the suggested image style to your brand.
In the customer portal, this step also asks for the site’s Platform, next to Language. Structura fills it in from your address and says Detected from your site; Change platform opens the full list when the guess is wrong. When it couldn’t tell, the field says Not detected and shows the list right away; you can’t continue without one, and once you pick, the field says Selected by you. Pick WordPress; an AI builder (Lovable, Bolt, v0 or Replit); a framework (Next.js, Astro, Nuxt, SvelteKit or Another framework or app), whose site fetches posts from the Content API; or My own backend, which receives each article as a signed request. On the Free plan, the AI builders and My own backend are marked Paid plans. If you come back later to change the platform, Continue skips the steps you already finished and takes you to Connect for the new one. The site name saves when you select Continue.
-
AI engine — Connect the AI provider Structura writes with. You connect your own key and pick the model, and you can’t continue until one working provider is connected. On cloud plans this step doesn’t appear at all — your plan runs on Structura’s managed AI, so there’s nothing to connect.
-
SEO intelligence — Your positioning (what you do, who you serve, the problem you solve) and the competitors you want to track. On paid plans the wizard researches both for you the first time you open the step — you land on a pre-filled screen and just review, swap, or add. Target keywords and authority sources are no longer set here — each campaign now discovers its own, tuned to that campaign’s language. (Paid plans — see Plans.)
-
Visuals — The art-direction prompt that anchors every generated image, plus the default aspect ratio and image format. The style is drafted automatically from your homepage, and from your logo when you set one on the Site info step. On a plan where you bring your own AI key, this needs a connected key. The AI suggest style button redrafts it whenever you like.
-
Personas — The voices that write your posts. Structura can draft a first persona for you; add more, edit them, or pull from the template gallery so your blog doesn’t sound one-note. These are the same personas you’ll see and manage under Personas.
-
Connect — Only for a site you set up in the customer portal. It comes last, right before the confirmation screen, because it’s the one step that sends you off to your site for a few minutes. Continue on the Personas step saves everything else and opens it. What it shows depends on the Platform:
- WordPress: Install the plugin (search for StructuraWP under Plugins → Add New in wp-admin, or select Download plugin .zip), your license key with Copy key, and Waiting for your site. In wp-admin, paste the key under Structura → Account & License and select Connect Account. The step continues by itself the moment the plugin connects. The site then carries on in the customer portal, and the plugin skips its own setup wizard because you already finished it here.
- Lovable, Bolt, v0, Replit and My own backend: Article
delivery. Select Copy prompt and paste the prompt into your
builder (on your own backend, add the route yourself), then paste the
Receiver URL your builder gives you and select Continue. The
connection is saved as soon as the Signing secret appears. Save
the secret in your site’s environment as
STRUCTURA_SIGNING_SECRET(it’s shown once), tick I saved it, and choose Send a test article now, or Test with my first real article and then Test later. You can leave for your builder and come back any time: the step shows the saved connection as Not tested, with Send test article, or as Connected once a test passed. - Next.js, Astro, Nuxt, SvelteKit and Another framework or app: the Content API quickstart. Fetch your posts and Single post by slug show the two requests your site makes, already pointing at your site’s own Content API address and ready to copy. When your site uses them, select I’ve wired it up.
Not ready? Connect later skips the step on every platform. You find the setup again here:
- Lovable, Bolt, v0, Replit and My own backend: your site’s Channels page, where Install on the Article delivery card opens the same setup. The details are in Add a blog to your AI-built website.
- Frameworks and apps: your site’s Delivery API page shows the same requests. The details are in the Headless delivery API reference.
- WordPress: install the plugin whenever you’re ready and paste the key from your workspace home or Workspace settings; see Install the plugin.
When the last step is complete, Finish setup saves everything and shows a confirmation screen (on a site with a Connect step, that step opens first).
What happens next
The confirmation screen offers your next move:
- Create your first campaign — recurring posts on a schedule. See Your first campaign.
- Generate a single post — a one-off, no schedule needed.
- Go to the dashboard.
On a site with a Connect step, the confirmation screen also says where your articles go:
- Article delivery: Connected (articles you publish are delivered to your site), Not tested (your first published article tests the connection), or Not connected (articles stay in Structura until you connect your site).
- WordPress: Connected once the plugin connects (articles you publish land in your WordPress editor), otherwise Not connected, with a reminder to install the plugin and paste your key.
- Frameworks and apps: your site fetches published posts from the Content API, marked Not fetched yet until its first fetch.
Connect your site on that screen takes you back to the step.
Whatever you set in the wizard becomes the defaults for this site: your positioning and competitors are saved to the site (editable any time under Site) and seed every campaign you create on it, and your personas appear under Personas. Target keywords and authority sources are chosen per campaign — each campaign discovers its own, tuned to that campaign’s language — so they’re no longer set once on the site. If you run Structura on more than one site, each site keeps its own positioning and competitors. (Personas are shared across your sites.)
What’s available on each plan
The wizard adapts to your plan:
- All plans can fill in Site info, Visuals, and Personas.
- The AI engine step only appears on plans where you bring your own key. Cloud plans run on Structura’s managed AI, so the wizard skips it.
- SEO intelligence (competitor research at the site level, plus per-campaign keyword and authority discovery) is a paid feature — on the Free plan that step shows a preview of what you’d unlock.
- The AI “suggest” / draft-for-me buttons (visual style, persona drafting, campaign setup) work on every plan, Free included. In WordPress, the visual-style and persona suggestions run on the AI key you connected.
- A couple of visual options — WebP image format and Optimize images on upload — are Pro; the Free plan uses PNG.
- On the Free plan, the Platform field marks the AI builders and My own backend Paid plans: sending articles to your site needs a paid plan. WordPress and the Content API work on every plan, Free included.
You can always change any of these later — see Related pages below.
Common issues
“Draft from my homepage” didn’t fill anything in. Structura reads your public homepage to draft your positioning. If your site isn’t reachable from the public internet yet (for example a staging or local URL), there’s nothing to read — fill the answers in yourself, or try again once the site is live.
I can’t get past the AI engine step. The wizard needs one working AI provider before the later steps can use it — add a valid key and pick a model. (On cloud plans this step doesn’t appear; AI is already connected.)
The Connect step keeps saying Waiting for your site. The plugin hasn’t connected yet. Check that the plugin is active, and that you pasted the key under Structura → Account & License and selected Connect Account. Structura matches the plugin to this site by its address, so the WordPress site must run at the address you entered on Address. See Activate your license.
I closed the wizard by accident. Nothing was lost. Your dashboard shows a tile to resume it, and Site → Settings → Restart setup wizard opens it again with your saved choices intact.
The test passed but the Connect step still says Not tested. The test reached your site, but saving the result didn’t. Select Save under the result, or Continue, which saves it first. No second test article is sent.
